The House of the Nuns and the East Annex

This set of structures has some of the most elaborate ornamentation in the area. The repeated geometric patterns are typical of the Puuc style (see Uxmal for much more examples of this style). The Nunnery (see below) gets its name from the fact that the number of interior rooms reminded early explorers of a convent.

The Church.

These two pictures (as well as the one at the top of the page) are immediately adjacent to the Nunnery. The photo on the left is a closer view of the carving over the door of the East Annex. Notice the Chac mask above the door of the Church in the photo on the right.
