This section of the web site is mostly from a January 2002 trip... We flew in and out of Cancun, but stayed there less than 24 hours and spent over a week exploring the interior of the Yucatan penisula. Concentrating on the the Mayan ruins, we used the city of Merida as a base for the most part but took our time coming and going and spent a couple of days on the beach to wrap things up...

Chichen Itza
Uxmal
Coba

Although we didn't plan it this way, our itinerary took us from the most extensively restored sight, Chichen Itza, to the equally extensive but less restored Uxmal, and finally to the still extensive but least restored site, Coba.

There are multiple pages for each site - page through this whole section and you'll see what I mean...

Merida
Downtown / The Zocalo
The Governor's Palace
Paseo Montejo
Casa Mexilio

The capital of Yucatan state, it's a great place from which to explore the surrounding areas but it rates as a destination on its own.  Take a look...

Playa del Carmen

Since this section is about the Yucatan Peninsula, I'm including links to pages elsewhere on the site that are from previous trips.
