Mary Ethel and Walt (Gale) spent 2 weeks in England in the Summer on a Beatrix Potter tour, then later were in Arkansas for a week at Fairfield Bay.

David and Phyllis came to Searcy on their way to Virginia from California and were able to spend an afternoon with the Gale's. They were accompanied by 3 grand-children. David came to Searcy for Harding's Homecoming-his 25th class reunion-the last of October.

Barbara Ann (Gibson) moved in October to the new Wal Mart Supercenter in Searcy, while Hugh began working for Best Buy in N. Little Rock. Miriah continues to live and work in Marion, Illinois.

Mark spent 3 weeks in Indonesia in September-October on a fact-finding trip. Greg spent the Summer with Mark in Virginia, then Mark brought him back to Searcy in August.

Jonathan, Marlene, and children (Carly, Jordan, and Hannah) moved from Michigan to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in August -- arriving just after the hurricane had struck Miami. Their newly-built house was undamaged, but a couple of palm trees were blown down. Jonathan works for the South American division of whirlpool, making trips to Brazil, etc.

Robin and Mark (Kirk) are still in Columbus, Ohio. Robin and the children (Ashley, Alan, and Allie) visited in Searcy in July-August, then Mary Ethel, Barbara Ann, and Mary flew to Columbus in September to see Ameriflora.

J. D. and Mary travelled (by car) in June to Virginia to take Greg and to visit with Mark, to New York to be with Mary Ethel for a long weekend, then to combine a visit with Robin in Columbus and do some genealogy-searching in Indiana and illinois. After a family Christmas in 1991 (only Mark and David were absent) Mary rode home with the Kirk's for a few days.

Make a joyful noise to God,
all the earth;
sing the glory of his name;
give to him glorious praise;
(Psa. 66:1,2)

LOOKING BACK ON 1993

Mary Ethel and Walt (Gale) played host to all of the Bales' siblings at their home on Shelter Island when the Bales' family reunion was held in July. Jonathan and family, J. D. and Mary also visited the Gales on Sanibel Island in Florida in April. They are slowly and painstakingly renovating the house on Shelter Island in their 'spare' time.

David and Phyllis saw their youngest daughter, Laura, married in June at Fort Monroe, Virginia, where David is stationed. David returned to Searcy for the 30th reunion of his Harding Academy graduating class in October. He is making plans for retirement from the U.S. Army in 1994. Phyllis will shortly complete requirements for a Ph.D. in Psychology.

Barbara Ann and Hugh (Gibson) welcomed Miriah back to Searcy in the summer after an absence of almost two years. Both Barbara and Miriah work at the Wal-Mart Supercenter and Hugh is with Best Buy in North Little Rock. Miriah is also enrolled at Harding University.

Mark still lives in Waynesboro, Virginia, and works in Charlottesville, about 30 miles away. He is restoring a very old house, is taking flying lessons, and assists in a variety of ways at the church at Wintergreen. Son Greg spent time with Mark in the summer after attending the family reunion. He is a 17-year-old junior at Searcy High.

Jonathan and Marlene with children, Carly, Jordan, and Hannah, live in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where Jonathan works in the South American division of Whirlpool, making frequent trips to Brazil. They came to Searcy immediately after the reunion to attend his 2Oth anniversary of graduation from Searcy High.

Robin and Mark (Kirk) with children, Ashley, Alan, and Allie, moved from Dublin, Ohio to Tampa, Florida early in August. They are living in a rented house while their new one is being built. They are about an hour from Disney World.

J. D. and Mary visited Jonathan and Marlene after going to Sanibel Island in April, then spent a memorable few days on Shelter Island for the Bales family reunion. In September Mary spent nine days in Tampa with Robin.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning; great is
thy faithfulness.

(Lamentations 3:22-23)
