Project Managment

As this has been a major thrust in my career over recent years, this list could be quite long but some major projects included:

Local Parts Distribution Network - Ecuador

Conducted feasibility study, financial analysis, business model development, network analysis and developed project plan including location analysis, site selection recommendation and staffing plan.

Warehouse Expansion Project

Analyzed product flow, package size, overpack configuration, turns by category and obsolescence to develop racking and layout for new warehouse space improving storage density and optimizing picking process.

Pricing Model Analysis

Performed total cost and profitability analysis on same-item, multiple-source materials resulting in standardized pricing model that stabilized pricing to customers while improving profitability.

Network Analysis for Motorola Messaging

Spearheaded analysis of global supply chain from materials to customer and made recommendations for sourcing, postponement and distribution points. Recommended solution included cost analysis, process analysis and network analysis. 

Brazil Factory Startup

Core Team member representing Logistics. (Core Team consisted of Logistics, Manufacturing, Information Technology and Finance.) Active in all aspects of project from Business Case development to site selection through construction to systems testing and production ramp up.

Regional IT Requirements Definition Team 

Leader of project to define systems requirements for Latin America division of Motorola Messaging business.

Store Dealer Direct Program

Represented Messaging business in Corporate level project team developing and implementing Store Direct replenishment program.

Consumer Direct Delivery Program

Represented Messaging business in Corporate level project team developing a Consumer Direct web based ordering and delivery program.

Sales Company Startup

Led project to start a subsidiary Sales Company for Whirlpool Corporation in Bogota, Colombia.

Colombia Factory Startup

Represented Logistics in project to transfer locally owned factory to Sales Company ownership.

Team Based Activities

Crisis Management Team

Core Team member of Motorola Boynton Beach Crisis Management Team. Representing Distribution and Manufacturing functions, drafted strategies and insured preparedness for a variety of crisis scenarios both natural and human-caused from hurricanes to bomb threats to toxic / bio-hazard contaminations. 

Personnel Transition Team

Core member of team designed to manage the human impact of plant shutdown and its associated large scale layoffs. Promoted early identification of problems, managed deployment of severance benefits, facilitated outplacements and generally monitored the pulse of the affected population.

Corporate Transportation Council

Represented Messaging group as member of Motorola-wide council chartered with developing strategies, setting requirements and standards and leveraging buying power across business units.

Order Fulfillment Forum - Steering Committee  

A global group of Logistics leaders with representation from all regions of the world. The group meets regularly by conference call and two to three times a year in person to share best practices, set global performance criteria and establish priorities for Motorola's Messaging business. 

Physical Distribution "Action Team" 

A subset of the OFF, this team focused on delivery issues for Motorola Messaging. 

Other Management Skills

Boynton Beach Transition

Spent the majority of 2001 in a leading role managing the transition of Motorola Messaging from an in house manufacturing and delivery model to a completely outsourced one. Responsible for the full spectrum of tasks including personnel issues, network analysis, comparative costing, process analysis, design and implementation.
