Race for the Cure January 25th, 2003

I've done this race for the past four years and I'm always glad that I did. Not only is it a nice season-starting 5K race, I am always happy and surprised at what an uplifting, emotional event it is... Something about all those people (and in this case there can be 10,000) all there to either remember or celebrate someone who has been affected by breast cancer.

I always run the race in celebration of my best friend Weezie...

After the race there is a gathering in the amphitheater there and all of the survivors (decked out in pink) march through the crowd and onto the stage. THIS is the part that gets emotional for me. It is amazing and gratifying to see SO many women, all ages shapes and sizes, gathered together to celebrate the one thing... their survival.

THIS is another reason this thing gets so emotional... So many people touched...
