I like Cozumel a lot... While tourism certainly supports the islands economy, a lot about it seems typically Mexican... The town square, plenty of places to get good food cheap (especially seafood), excellent snorkelling and just about every place on the island is within cycling distance (see below!).

The photos here reflect that...

<< Carved chairs in a little place we had breakfast in almost every day we were in Cozumel.

A decorated shrine. >>

There seemed to be a lot of these iguanas on the island.  This one was being kept by this kid at one of the little roadside shops.  Of course after posing for this picture we felt obligated to BUY something!! >>

Chankanaab

Great snorkeling at Chankanaab... in addition to the spectacular assortment of fish and coral there was a sunken fishing boat and this underwater shrine..

Cycling the island We rented bicycles for the entire time we spent in Cozumel and on one afternoon we took a circuit around the far side of the island.  The road is flat, following the coast and while this side of the island is virtually undeveloped, the surf can be spectacular... It took us the better part of the afternoon to make the circuit.
