Rock climbing is not something I personally ever aspired to do but I have to admit - this is a lot of fun!... On the first day, as we hiked up to the area where most of the training takes place, we were greeted by views like the one on the right where the first reaction is something like "You want ME to go up THERE?!!". But as you ease into it, gain some skills and confidence, this is great on a lot of levels. It can be physically challenging, but it goes beyond that to the combination of physical and mental, staying focused, calculated risk taking, etc.

An intermediate climb...

Although a couple couldn't make the climb, the ones that did had been together all week (including George, our guide, who Exum was accomodating enough to let us stay with through the climb). This means that you had a group of people, none of whom knew each other before, becoming a close knit team with a high level of confidence and trust in each other by week's end. A BIG bonus for the experience.
