23. David⁴ Bales (Abijah H.⁵) was born, 03/07/1837. David died 02/12/1907 at 69 years of age. His body was interred Ziegler Cemetery.

He married twice. He married Sarah Shaw 02/03/1859. Sarah was born 05/09/1839. Sarah was the daughter of Townsend Shaw and Jane Palmerton. Sarah died 06/21/1915 at 76 years of age. Her body was interred Boggstown Cemetery. Sarah was divorced from David Bales 1886. He married Sarah F. Jones 06/21/1886.

David was divorced from Sarah Shaw 1886.

David Bales and Sarah Shaw had the following children:

24 i. Townsend H.³ Bales was born, 1859. Townsend died 1860.

25 ii. Eliza Bales was born, 1860.

26 iii. Clara M. Bales was born, 10/11/1861. Clara died 11/01/1871 at 10 years of age. Her body was interred Boggstown Cemetery.

27 iv. Isaac Bales was born, 1864. Isaac died 12/22/1931 at 67 years of age. His body was interred 12/23/1931 Jones IOOF Cemetery. Letter from Isaac to his niece dated April 15, 1927 from Jones, OK

(Contributed by Mary Jo (Shaw) Yancy) Isaac said his parents separated throwing the children out in the world, and he never saw his siblings much after he was of age. He lived in Elmwood, Indiana for 26 years and in Terre Haute for 4 years. He had been in Oklahoma since August 25, 1921. He stated he heard from his sister but never from his brothers, Charley and Albert.

28 v. Emma Jennie M. Bales was born, March 1868. Emma died 1953 at 85 years of age. Her body was interred Boggstown Cemetery. She married Samuel Donley 12/23/1889. Samuel was born November 1865. Samuel died 01/13/1933 at 67 years of age. Letter from Jennie dated April 21, 1927 from Vincennes, Indiana

Jennie mentions her deceased sister, Alice and her children. Also Albert who lives in Indianapolis but calls his home with Townsend and Kate Shaw. She mentions Charles Bales and the accident taking the life of Benjamin. She states that she and her brothers and sisters were separated when very young and she hardly knew a brother and sister's love.

29 vi. Charles Bales was born, 02/20/1869. Charles died 05/20/1946 at 77 years of age. His body was interred 05/22/1946 Boggstown Cemetery. He married Margaret Jane "Maggie" Lawrence 11/28/1893. Margaret was born July 1870. Margaret was the daughter of Rolly Lawrence. Margaret died 1953 at 82 years of age. Her body was interred Boggstown Cemetery.

His funeral was held 05/22/1946.

30 vii. Albert "Pet" Bales was born, 11/09/1871. Albert died 11/16/1943 at 72 years of age. His body was interred 11/19/1943 Boggstown Cemetery. Albert served in the military. His funeral was held 11/19/1943.

31 viii. Alice Mary Bales was born, 03/12/1876. Alice died 12/20/1905 at 29 years of age. Her body was interred Paul Hill Cemetery. She married Jacob "Jake" Favor 09/21/1891. Jacob was born 07/22/1865. Jacob was the son of William Favor and Lyda Reed. Jacob died 05/03/1935 at 69 years of age. His body was interred 05/05/1935 Paul Hill Cemetery. Last Known Residence: 1920, Shelby Co., IN.
