Fred and Mabel Smart

My mother's side of the family... These are of course the only grandparents I ever knew.

 

A nice picture of my Grandmother... I can only guess at the date but she looks pretty young so I would guess this is from 1920 or before...

This had 'Fred Smart' written on the back of it but is sure doesn't look much like how I remember my Grandfather!

I would not normally associate the word 'dapper' with my Grandfather but he looks pretty sharp in that hat!

This is a great photo. It just says 'Grimsby' on the back (which is a town in Ontario). Assuming that the little girl is my mother (Mary Smart Bales) this would be from around 1925.

Here is the whole Smart clan sometime around 1958 (judging from the age of the kids). From the right to the left: Grampa, Gramma holding Robin, Barbara Ann standing in front of Mary Ethel, David, Dad holding me (Jonathan), Mother, Mark & then the Denhams: Margaret & Ralph & the three girls.
