| Monday, July 14: We left the
Hanes’ at about 9:00 in the morning in weather so cool we had to wear jackets, for
the first time in weeks. We ate lunch in Tucumcari, N. Mexico at a restaurant where
Barbara Ann saw "The Muffin Man". We slept at Grants. The scenery is very new
and different by now. Tuesday, July 15: We did our
first serious sight-seeing today, investigated the Painted Desert and the Petrified
Forest. This country is certainly unique, but almost depressing in its barrenness. We at
lunch at Winslow, Arizona, and spent the night at Aguila. |
